Erika Nyhus, Communications and Marketing Officer
University of Colorado at Boulder, Psychology and Neuroscience: Ph.D. Candidate My interest in cognitive neuroscience began as an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley where I did research in the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute in the Department of Psychology. This work culminated in a senior honors thesis. In addition, I spent one summer as an undergraduate working as a Research Fellow at the Center for Visual Science at the University of Rochester. After graduation I had the unique opportunity to act as the Principal Research Assistant for the Cognitive Neuroscience group in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Balearic Islands in Mallorca, Spain. I am currently in the graduate program in the Department of Cognitive Psychology and the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Colorado at Boulder. My graduate research is focused on using EEG/ERP to study recognition memory processes. I am also beginning to look at how neural oscillations and synchronization can lead to large-scale brain network dynamics underlying higher cognitive processes such as recognition memory.
